macOS

Available

macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon and Intel: one universal app.

Open the disk image and drag Noekken to Applications.

The app is not notarized by Apple yet, so macOS stops its first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security (on macOS 11 and 12, System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General), choose Open Anyway next to Noekken and confirm. Then the app installs its service and asks for the administrator password.

Linux

Available

Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Debian 12 or newer, Fedora and RHEL 9. Both x86_64 and arm64.

In a terminal, in the folder with the downloaded package, run the command under its button (on arm64, with the arm64 file name). Noekken then shows up among your apps.

On GNOME the tray icon needs the AppIndicator extension: Ubuntu has it, Fedora and Debian do not out of the box. Without the icon, the close button quits Noekken.

Open the downloaded file. The phone asks to allow installing apps from your browser: allow it, then install.

After you install

Three steps from the installer to a working tunnel.

Step 1

Run the installer

It asks for administrator rights: the app needs them to bring up its network adapter. It installs into Program Files and adds itself to the Start menu.

Step 2

Sign in with your key

Choose Sign in with account key and paste your account key. No email and no password.

Step 3

Connect

Pick a location and press Connect. If the tunnel drops, the app keeps traffic from going around it until it is back.

Check the file

Compare the SHA-256 of the file you downloaded with the one on this page. It takes one command.

Windows may warn about an unknown publisher. The installer has no paid certificate yet, so the checksum is how you know the file is ours.
