Terms of use

The rules for using Noekken. They are short on purpose, so read them before you pay.

01Acceptance

By creating an account or using Noekken, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

02The service

Noekken is a VPN. It carries your internet traffic through our servers in an encrypted tunnel, so the sites you visit see our server's address instead of yours. The tunnel is built to look like ordinary HTTPS to the networks in between.

We act only as a technical carrier. We do not watch or record what you do through the tunnel, beyond what the privacy policy describes. Two kinds of traffic are refused: connections to private network addresses and to the servers themselves, and peer-to-peer file sharing such as BitTorrent.

03Your account and key

  • Your account is a random key. Keep it secret: whoever has the key has the account.
  • Each of your devices has its own key and connection file. Keep them to yourself, because traffic made with them counts against your plan.
  • Your plan allows a number of devices, and each device key is connected to a server from only one computer at a time. If the same key connects from another one, the first is disconnected.
  • We cannot recover a lost key. Losing it means losing the account and any time left on its plan, unless you added a passkey: sign in with it and get a new key.
  • You may delete your account at any time from your account page.

04Plans and payment

  • Each plan has a period and a number of devices, and may have a speed limit and a traffic quota. All of this is shown before you choose it.
  • A free plan starts right away and renews itself each period. A paid plan starts when its payment is confirmed and ends with its period. Nothing is charged automatically.
  • An order waits for payment for two hours, then it expires. If your payment arrived late and the plan has not started, contact us and we will confirm it by hand.
  • Paying for your current plan again while its period runs extends it: the days and the traffic quota are added to the current period.
  • Buying a different plan starts a new period from that moment. The remaining days of the previous one are not carried over.
  • When the quota of a period is used up, the connection stops until the next period or a new plan.
  • If a paid period could not be used because of a fault on our side, contact us and we will extend it or settle it through the channel the payment came through.

05Acceptable use

You may not use Noekken to:

  • break the law that applies to you or to our servers,
  • attack, scan or overload other systems, send spam, or spread malware,
  • reach the servers' own networks or infrastructure,
  • share files over BitTorrent or other peer-to-peer networks (the servers recognise such traffic and block it),
  • resell access or share one account publicly.

Plans are meant for personal use. Traffic that puts the service at risk for others may be limited.

06Availability

We work to keep the service running but do not promise any particular uptime or speed. Servers may be maintained, moved or replaced, and networks between you and us may block or slow them. Your connection file lists several ways in, and the app switches between them by itself.

07No guarantees

The service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee complete anonymity, that it will get through every block, or that it fits the laws of your country. How you use it is your responsibility.

08Suspension and termination

We may disable an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk. We do not know who you are, so we cannot warn you by email: a disabled account simply stops working. An account that has never been paid for and has neither a paid plan running nor a plan given only by an administrator is deleted after 30 days without use. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

09Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the plan period in which it arose.

10Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

11Contact

Write to us through the contact given on this site. We answer without asking who you are. An account key is never needed for that, and we will never ask for it.
